Week 3 the worst

Physically you're over the hump, but the mental part is going to take a while. You CAN do this if you really are determined to beat the Nicodemon. The crazy cravings will lesson with time. Have you rewarded yourself for the success you've had so far? That actually does seem to help. Hang in there....

100 Days and counting

Today makes 100 days for me being smoke free! It appears that I'm one of the lucky ones. I have not had any urges to smoke since day one. The only issue I've had is relearning how to deal with stress without a smoke. Things have been going so well that my wife has decided to try and stop smoking next week!!!  I hope it goes well for her too.
For all of you thinking of quitting, it CAN be done, but you have to really WANT to quit. It's 10% physical and 90% mental. The physical part will be over in a matter of days, but the mental part will last for weeks, months and even years from what I understand. If you are in the right mind set, it will happen. Good luck to everyone!

That was stupid...

You gave it good go, and tripped up. At least you are still committed to trying again. Don't be too hard on yourself. You CAN do it.
Day one and counting again!

Hi Whisper,
It's tough quitting, but if you have the will power it can be done. If you really really want to, you can make this happen. I wish you the best on your quit. There is no luck in quitting, it's all in determination. Hang in there, it's hard at the beginning, but it will get easier with time. Never let your guard down either.

new to this site and 5th day of no smoking! :)

Hi Jamet,
It's been 5 days already? Looks like you are over the worst part of the physical side, now it's just mental. For me the mental part was the hardest. Hang it there it will get easier as time goes by, and never let your guard down. It's so easy to slip up. Have you celebrated your 5 days of quit yet? If not you need to, you deserve it. We're here to celebrate with you all of the way!
Keep it up!

Today is my 4th day..

Hi Han,
You said "this time around I really mean it and I am gonna do it", and with an attitude like this you WILL do it. You really have to want to quit for it to work. Take it slow, and when you get an urge, do whatever it takes to not smoke. Some things that helped me was to suck through a straw like it was a cigarette, eat a piece of hard candy, (or vegetables or crackers or whatever you like), take deep breaths through the  nose and exhale through the mouth. The urge  will go away, and usually in less than 5 minutes. Just do whatever you can to NOT smoke. It will get easier with time. You have already made it over the physical part, now it's all mental. I wish the best!

Hello Winners

Hi  Rete,
Too much oxygen going the the brain huh? You know that is a fact now. I was getting headaches when I quit, and from the research I found that getting too much oxygen to the brain can actually give you a headache. Who'da thunk?
Hang in there it does get easier over time. You're a lot stronger than you thought you were!!
