Newbie, taking my 1st steps

Hi Everyone!

Rudy here from the far north (Canada).

I just realized I've been smoking for 25 years now. Boy how time flies! I made it through high school and my first year of college with out smoking. I don't remember why, but I started smoking in my second year of college. Probably the "cool" factor. We'd sit there in the commons room drinking our coffee, playing euchre and smoking. Yeah, we were cool alright. Remember the long hair and the tight Levi's.

I thought about it but haven't tried very hard to quit. I think I gave it one honest attempt that lasted about a week. As I recall, after the first week I rewarded myself with a smoke and that was the end of that.

It's time to quit. For my health and my kid. I feel fine, no problems that I know of. It's just time. Actually I think the financial cost is my first motivator. I feel bad putting my sons health second but hey, I'm an addict.

I've set my quit date as Oct. 4th. I've picked that date because that's my mom's birthday. That way I'll have two parties to go to next year.

Well, as Forest Gump would say "That's all I've have to say about that".

Cheers

Newbie, taking my 1st steps

Well, first day of cutting back. I'm up early for a Saturday. Sarted the coffee, delayed my first smoke by 20 minutes. Opened up a fresh pack. Left half of them in the cupboard. I think I'll surf the net then clean up the computer room.

Cheers

Turns out I didn't really cut back at all. went through the half pack then had a few others. The computer room's clean & got a bunch of clothes out of my son's room that I'll take to Goodwill today. Time to re-read all the motivation on this web site. Thinking about using the patch on my quit date.

Ok, I didn't use the patch. All most done my 1st smoke free day. The only reason I'm writing is because I'm going crazy right now. Holy smokes this sucks.

Made it through that little fit. Having dinner now. Ham, baked potatoe and corn on the cob. I took Kiwi's to work today, boy, I must have ate about 7 of them. Walked to the store around 2pm and bought some sunflower seeds. Can't keep eating those. Way too salty.

Going downstairs for my after dinner coffee. This should be interesting....

Thanks to everyone for posting. Almost done day two. I'm really getting cranky. I'm sure my family would call me something else. I even noticed on the way home from work my driving was more aggressive. I'm the exact opposite of a hot head but my fuse is getting shorter.

This is going to be a hard day. I'm already cranky and nothings even happened. On the brighter side it would still appear that I don't smoke while I'm asleep.

Day 3 almost over and the bull didn't buck me off! Kind of a bizarre feeling this morning. Grumpy and light headed. Felt off until about noon. Not as crusty tonight as the last two nights. My family's come out of hiding.

How do I change my profile? It says I'm from the States, but I'm from Canada. We've got Thanksgiving this weekend. I think I'll head to the cottage. Lot's of wood there to chop.

Cheers

Hi Rudy!
It's me Rudy. What are doing?

Oh, I don't know. It's 3:30 in the friggin morning and I can't sleep.
I don't need to be up for another 4 hrs.
I just had a shower. Now I'm having a glass of milk.

Why don't you grab a book, lie in bed, do some deep breathing exercises.

Ah, good idea. Maybe that will help.
Thanks Rudy.

No problem Rudy.
Weirdo!

Pretty easy day. I fell back asleep. Woke up smelling nice, thanks to the 3:30 shower. Dropped the kid at school, off to work. Eat 1.7 million peanuts , 359 thousand sunflower seeds, 2 polish sausage, rice, some beer to wash it down. Still no smokes. I got you Biatch!

Cheers
