day 6

Hi all,

Well am nearly at the end of Hell Week.  It has been a strange week, first few days went by quite calmly but day 4 was horrible, then things went back as before quite calmly. Today is going great, it Mothers Day and I am please to say that "It's my 1st Mothers Day as a non-smoker".

Yesterday was quite easy, my cravings were more like a niggling voice in the back of my head, than the normal slap in the face that they had always been on previous quits. Today seems to be going the same way.

Well I'll have to log of for now, my son has just told me that dinner is ready!!!  The boys and their Dad have made Sunday Dinner for me as it Mothers Day.

Hope that eveyone is having a great day, Debby

Like a Train...

Hi xtremest,  so proud that you didn't light that fag.  It just goes to show that you know that even when thing go wrong you don't need that fag. It was just something to make you think things would be alright and delay the moment when you had to sort it out. Stay strong and always let us know if you need us, as we are all here helping each other and getting help from each other,  Congratulations on day 13 Debby

Ignorance is Bliss!

Found the words of this post to be very true.  I am noticing things around me that have always been there but I have never really seen before. Also I am learning more and more about myself that I've just ignored before.  Thanks again Debby

Passed day 6

Well it's getting near time for me to call it a day and go to my bed.

It's been a good day, the dinner made by my family was a real treat, and I noticed that my food is starting to taste different, and  that my sense of smell is also improving.

These are things that I never realised that I had lost, I just thought that was how it was. So glad that I am on this quit as this time I am enjoying the different stages, Still with a slight dread but more with a wonderment of what will I realise I have been missing because of my smoking today.

Hope that everyone had a good weekend and that things haven't been to bad.

Debby

Here I go again

Hi there wolfmedic,

Like you this isn't my first quit, but I am determined that it will be my last.

I have told all my family and friends, that this quit is for ME and that if they really want me to win that they need to give me space, but be there when I need them.  Up to now this seems to be working as I realise that even though they all want me to quit, when I feel that I'm being watched all the time, that this is when it just puts more pressure on my quit and I tend to thingk about smoking more.

So the best advice I could give to you is let everyone know that this is YOUR quit and help will be asked for when needed.

Remember that this quit is about you and not anyone else, take one day at a time and reward yourself often.

Log on here as much as you need and read as much as you can as advice is always given and things that you read on here really do help.

Debby

Wanting to quit

Hi Rick

I am also using the patch and I have found that it really does get better. I'm on day 7 and the cravings are still here but their getting weaker every day.

I have found that reading the posts and posting myself on here is really helpful and even if I'm not looking for advice or help at a particular time I have noticed that things seem to stay in my head that when needed are already there.

Keep strong it does get better and all the best with you quit. Debby

craving!!!!!

Hi, well done on going 10 Hours

Like ron said for the 1st few days time does seem to go slow, I think it the brain trying to tell us that we have forgot to do something!!!  but we all know that it isn't forgotten we just no longer want to smoke.

Have an early nights if possible and just remind yourself that you are quitting and that is final.

I found that when a craving can I would tell myself that I'll just wait 10 minuets and if the craving is still there I'll just give it another 10 minuets, to be honest after the first 10 minuets the craving had passed and I didn't ever need the other 10.

All the best for tomorrow,  Debby
