In answer to your questions, I am feeling confident that I can do this!
I do feel calmer and so long as I continue one day at a time I stand a chance.
I am going to find as many reasons as I can to recognise my achievements.
My reward for fifty days was some on- line shopping for luxurious hand cream.
Thanks to Hot Si02, Breather, Working On It, Sly. and Ashley
Your support is so welcome.
Lets have a good week.with

Reading this string has given me the impetus I need to start today. It reminds me to be on my guard. It sometimes feels as the days and weeks mount up that we must surely be over the worst and the rest is plain sailing. This thread illustrates so clearly that at 136 days , over four months, the craving can return and linger on and off for days.
As I work through week nine! I get angry at the constant effort required to keep smoke free. It feels that I am still spending a good deal of my time involved in smoking related activities. Except now the time is spent to keep me smoke FREE!
That is the point made so clearly below and I must not underestimate the importance of that. It IS TIME WELL SPENT.
So today with 58 days behind me, I will not smoke.

Sixty days for me today! I need to tell the world. I am so pleased to be saying this at last. It's clearly not a walk in the park. BUT, having a walk in the park does help me to realise just how much better my lungs are! So surprised at the deep breaths!!
Just one day at a time and how they are mounting up.
I will not be smoking today. I will be out in the fresh air weather permitting working on the garden. Working towards my next goal.
NO SMOKING FOR ME TODAY!
N.O.P.E.
I like to start the week on a positive note. I want to remind myself and anyone else who's interested that I have completed a further week of not smoking.
On retiring last night I completed week NINE!
I feel it does help to keep reminding ourselves just what we are achieving. It also strengthens my resolve to stick with the programme.
Today is extra special for me as, I have also completed FORTY THREE YEARS of marriage.
So today, I commence week ten and year forty four!
There will be plenty of celebrations today!
This coming week I will not be smoking but hoping to notch up more days as a non smoker, taking it one day at a time.
Have a good week everyone.

I think the most important thing that i have learned from this quit is ,
I now recognise that I need to actively work at keeping it. I know I am at risk and feel that I can't afford to take it for granted.
I recall in the past managing a six month quit and felt quite safe, yet succumbed to the demon too readily. No this time I must try to remain actively involved here.
I need to look forward taking just one day at a time.

Working on it,
Thank you for your support. Physically I feel better, I am able to take much deeper breaths without any pain or tightness. No wheezing! That's got to be good. A few things have happened in past few weeks, that had I still been smoking I would be very worried. The most notable difference is the reduction of stress related to smoking.
I have, however, had to seek medical advice for depression which has been linked to me taking Champix. Now I have an appointment to see a cardiologist next week.
I was told by my GP that sometimes this can cause problems with depression and the heart. So hopefully this is just to check!
Overall it can only get better.
No smoking for me today.
As you say......Slow and steady wins the race!

Welcome Tweedsly,
You have come to the right place. I am completing my tenth week smoke free and may not have managed it without the support I have found here. You will find loads of tips to encourage and support you on your way, so I look forward to watching your progress.
Visit often.

Thank you. SuzyL
Just the message I need to hear. I am a mere ten weeks in, and its really important that I get to understand that there is a life beyond smoking. Sometimes I feel it's the end of the world. However, when more rational , I know that I'll get over it.
So it's good to hear from you. Thanks!
