I'm really hurting right now...

Hi msreader!

I'm new here too, so I don't now how much I can help..
But I'd like you to know I'll be here for you too, like so many others!
When I need a smoke, I usually drink lots of water or - and this works best for me - loads of orange juice! If it doesn't work I just say NO and I think about the hard times my family had about a year ago when my sister got sick. (she's just fine now)

Hang in there, we're all on your side!

I hope you're enjoying a really nice reward for your achievement right now!

Newbie aboard!

Thank you all so much!
Such a warm welcome! With this kind of support, it will be much easier!
Usually the most intense desire to smoke comes when I "forget" I'm in a quit process and I reach for my pack of cigarettes to realize it's not there! And it shouldn't be!!

Hmmm, just a little warning, as I can see most of you live in english-speaking countries.. Well, I don't, so if anything I say seems weird, that's why!

Newbie aboard!

Indeed, most of my friends and colleagues are smokers, some of them really heavy ones.. I'd better let them know soon!
I'm from Greece Breanne... Nice name by the way!
I'll definitely stop by as often as I can!

What have I done

I too have kept my quit to myself during the first week.. Until now, the only ones who know are my boyfriend and my mother, both non-smokers.
-So I avoided meeting friends, who are smokers, being afraid that I wouldn't be able to resist..
-I also avoided studying until late at night, because that would trigger cravings too.
-And I didn't step foot at the mini market where I used to buy my cigarettes for the last couple of years. They must miss me a lot...
Good thing I don't usually drink alcohol and I never really combined coffee with smoking..

What have I done

Thank you Stickin for the great advice!! I'm thinking of what I can do differently when my vacation ends!

I don't think I didn't tell my smoker friends I am quitting for them not to get let down if I started back a couple of days later.. I think I had a mostly selfish thought which goes like "I don't like people telling me congratulations, while a huge cloud of smoke is coming out of their mouths"!! Which explains why I did tell my non-smoking close environnement..
I'm currently trying to make up strategies and find things that can distract me from thinking about smoking or substitute smoking.. (for the time being it's orange juice, chocolate and self-talk)
I'm not saying I'm gonna cut them out because they smoke, not a chance.. I'm just saying that this time I need a little time to myself so I can think of the best ways to resist and be prepared.
