New here. First day smoke free!

Alright! I got through the second day smoke free and the cravings were not as strong as the first day so I was able to keep them at bay using different techniques in my program. I did go for an 8 mile bike ride which help immensely with the cravings. I was unable to get any sleep by the pool yesterday so by the evening I was exhausted. I got a great nights sleep. My sleep was uninterrupted for a whopping 10 hours. I feel rested and energized.

For those of you who have asked. I am not on any kind of aid, NRT, Rx, etc. I just had to decide to stop being a slave to a certain death sentence and with the help of this site, create a program to work with.

New here. First day smoke free!

Well today was better than yesterday and for some strange reason I think tomorrow will be better than today was. I don't know...call me an optomist. I spent a few hours at the library today. It's not a place that I ever went to and smoked so I figured I would be somewhat safe there. I was. That's not to say that I didn't have any cravings, because I did. But they were fairly easily dealt with. So, I am still smoke free. Being smoke free is what I am doing. Staying smoke free is my goal.

New here. First day smoke free!

As I thought, today was better than yesterday. So far, so good. You know I figured if it worked once it'll work again so I am back at the library today staying smoke free and talking to you all. In addition to it being a "safe place" for me during this HELL week, I am attending a Team in Training informational meeting this evening here as well. If you are not familiar with Team in Training (team in training) it is the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training,® the world's largest endurance sports training program. The program provides training to run or walk marathons and half marathons or participate in triathlons and century(100-mile) bike rides Since 1988, more than 360,000 volunteer participants have helped raise more than $850 million.

Now I actually used to be a runner when I was younger, much younger, believe it or not and I did love the "high" that running gave me. Since those golden years of youth, I have participated in only a handful of running races and really desire to get back that feeling I had as a youth. My crutch (cigarettes) always held me back in my early adult life and now that I have decided to quit being a slave to the drug nicotine, I find myself about 50 lbs over weight, that's 3.5 stone/22 kg for my European friends. So getting back into the running game is going to not only take discipline, to get out the door on a regular basis, but discipline to not try too much too fast. I have done that before and ended up injured for several weeks. So when I found out that Team in Training was holding an informational meeting here at the library I was determined to, if nothing else, attend and hope that I can get back into the running game, increase my stamina, health and overall fitness.

So I am smoke free for yet another day and I look forward to being smoke free tomorrow. Until then my friends...

New here. First day smoke free!

OK, so it is getting a bit easier. The library has really been a safe haven for me during the day. Also, I had dinner in our garden last night. This was the first time I actually had been in the garden since I smoked my last cigarette there on Saturday night. Though I had some craving, I got through it and the meal and glass of wine afterward was very enjoyable.

Now it's on to another day of smoke free living.

New here. First day smoke free!

OK! So it was a slip. I realize that I can't be out with my mates drinking until I've gotten through the worse of these withdrawals. It was very foolish of me to even think that could be a possibility in the first week. So, listen, I'm back on track and have gone the last 2 days smoke free. I am determined to beat this and stay smoke free for the rest of my life. NOPE! I've got that pasted on the bathroom mirror so I see it several times a day. Here we go again.

Smoking Dreams!

Well, I had another smoking dream last night. Very vivid and slightly disturbing. I had a similar one just a week ago. When do they stop? I slipped up last Saturday and had to start my quit all over so I wonder if that had any influence on having the dream? Anyone else experience this? What kind of impact did it have on your quit, positive or negative?
Thanks,

Smoking Dreams!

Thanks for all of the replies. I also quit cold turkey and since I have one more day of Hell Week to endure, I'm sure it is the effect that the addiction to nicotine had on my brain that is causing the dreams. I did wake up this morning wondering if I had blown it yet again. I was so relieved to realize that it WAS ONLY A DREAM!
