Today is my quit date. I'm new and very nervous. I hope to find support here and learn from all you successful non-smokers. I have been smoking for 36 years and lately breathing has become difficult. I'm really scared and don't want to fail. I'm also nervous about getting lost in this forum. I'm just learning about computers so if I look lost, I probably am. :8o:
Thank you all so much for your words of support and encouragement. I really didn't know what to expect.
I salute all of you. Looking at your days quit has given me new found hope that I can too can succeed.
I've only been smoke free for a few hours but I'm happy that I can even say that! I'm definitely craving right now but I have my trusty glass of cold water beside me.
Your kind words of welcome/wisdom have triggered a few tears - I'm not alone anymore because you're all here with me! Bless you all!
I'm not going to smoke one minute at a time. :)
I will definitely be following your advice.
I'm taking a lot of notes here so I can refer back to them often.
Thank you!

What an excellent idea!
I'm just learning the ropes here but, seeing my quit unfold in front of me will help it take flight! A source of distraction and a visual/reward system. Thank you!

I never realized how much my everyday life was consumed by smoking. I find myself battling with myself to remain distracted, to find an outlet.
I seem to be brimming with a nervous energy and moving about helps. Instead of smoking, I take that energy and walk. It's kind of funny because the stronger the craving, the faster I seem to walk. At this rate, I may become an Olympic speed-walker real soon. lol

I'm new here and have heard so much about weight gain when quitting, that I've made sure that my refrigerator is full of vegetable sticks and loads of cold water. Lots of walking, plenty of water and family involvement will hopefully keep my weight in check.
The hand to mouth habits of smoking and over-eating must be replaced. I'm still trying to finger that one out! Lol
