For those of us who have quit in August ...

Hey Cat! I agree - Chantix is helping a lot! I also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE licorice. Unfortunately, I am trying to stay lifetime on Weight Watchers so I can't do too much. But I did cut an apple into 40 matchsticks today! Now THAT was a great snack that also helped the hadn to mouth craving! I'll be watching you - keep the quit sister! Hi Esperanza, I am also taking Chantix. I'm coming to the close of my four weeks and have decided to go another month. I miss one pill and I know it. I am going to finally take this nasty habit and kick it out the door for good. My husband is also a smoker, he has been kicked out the door too (to smoke at least). ;) I've found this past week was alot harder than the first two weeks, but I figure it is just the stress of me and the kids starting school again. The Pull & Peel licorice has become my friend. Imaquitter you can do this! This quit has been a lot easier than my previous four quits. The Chantix has really helped me out. :) :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/4/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 16 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 320 Amount Saved: $56.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 6 Mins: 44 Seconds: 54

Okay - I am here - it is 12:00 CST and I am smoke free for the first time in 21 years, (minus a little 1 month quit). I don't quite know how I feel - not NEARLY as bad as I thought. Of course staying in bed reading until 9:30 didn't hurt! I read posts well into the night and know that if everyone else can do this I can too! The only thing I hate are the tears. I am usually not weepy, but have had a few bouts this morning. But I look at it this way, I also cried at the end of a 16 year marriage to an abusive, alcoholic jerk and I lived through that and came out better on the other side! This little "twinges" of cravings are tough though. But I have had lots of water and SF Cinnamon discs and am coming through okay. Good for you Esperanza - I was REALLY excited to read your post since you are just two weeks ahead of me and also taking Chantix. I'll be watching out for you. Joyfulspirit - Thanks so much for the bump on that thread. Just what I needed this a.m! Good day to all! Traci (that's right, the non-smoker - that's me!) :) :(

Yay!!! I'm an AuGUSTO too!!! Not one slip-up, and since starting Chantix....the smell of smoke makes me sick to my stomach! I can SMELL again too! It's like I've been walking around with a plugged nose the last 12 years! I've been on it almost 4 weeks now and going to start weaning off in a week or two. I just started a new job and I'm not around a bunch of smokers all day. So it should be OK. It's the driving my car that makes me crave......something. I think it's just that I need something in my hand while I drive, so I now hold a straw while I drive and it works. I do get cravings, but its weird, because I don't necessarily crave a cig. I just CRAVE SOMETHING. Go figure. Now I just need hubby to quit! Luckily we have never smoked in our house, so I think that's easier on me. Thanks to you all for being here! That's funny! U lit the wrong end huh, lol. GOOD 4U FOR SAYING GOODBYE TO THOSE NASTY STINKY POISON FILLED Cancer sticks! WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO is right! Deep breathing really helped Lady & I a lot! We use to IM and breathe together, lol. I'm bumping up a thread by Stickin. He said what I was trying to say about not obsessing over your quit, but he said it much better :) I'm proud of you! You're on your way to feeling better again and you already know how good it feels so stay focused on that :) I'm trying to do the same. And you're so right it's one thing to talk the talk and another to walk the walk. I'm really good at talkin it, lol. And I talk it a lot b/c I want it to sink into my brain! I'm doing my best at the walkin part :) Ok let me go find that thread for you :) Just breathe.........ahhhhhhhhh My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 40 Amount Saved: $9.60 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 6 Mins: 57 Seconds: 14

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Hi there Joyful Spirit - what a wonderful post to read RIGHT AFTER MY LAST SMOKE -- woo hoo!!! Okay, maybe I should be honest and admit I actually cried as I put the butt (and I do mean butt) out. But I know now without a doubt it was a God thing because when I went to light the last one, I actually lit the wrong end - the first time I have done that in years. Wow - "I get it". You are so right - a crave is a wave and it will go away. I keep telling myself that and to BREATHE! The best words ever, that are going on my fridge and bathroom mirror --- are "...you can do absolutely anything except smoke" How true is that! Anyway - thanks again and I will definitely be on tomorrow. I told hubby (a non-smoker) that the computer will be my life line for a little while! Hang in there too - I know when emotions run strong in can be tough - I had that problem last quit. But just walk the walk because your talk is inspiring! Good night for now - Traci (Oh, yeah - did I mention I am officially a NON SMOKER?!?! ;) )
