Cigarettes Not Smoked

Good morning! I too realized that I did almost everything with a cig in my hand. So for now, everything seems to be a trigger. Even cleaning the kitchen. I always took a break to smoke. Now I'm done cleaning it, and feeling tired of cleaning, and there seems to be something missing........... Oh well. I am starting to persue gardening. I've never done that before, so this should be easy doing without a cig. Anyway, weekends are still tough for me. I have way too much time on my hands. But I am still smoke-free! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 29 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 884 Amount Saved: $94.83 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 8 Mins: 56 Seconds: 59

Hi cybrduke, I love your attitude, and its attitude like that, that will help you with your quit.
I figure I smoked for a whole lot of years, this isn't something I'll unlearn in a few days.
If we could all embrace that saying it would really help with quitting. It does take TIME and it is WORTH it. I used the patch too and stepping down was really quite easy, I hope it is for you too. I too had a great weekend, beautiful sunny days and my grandson was here for the weekend, I love spending time with him :) My triggers are getting less and less, it does get better. They say it takes a whole year to get through all the triggers so I am about there but dont be discouraged, that year really does go by fast. Keep up the great attitude, your a quitter now :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/21/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 347 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,683 Amount Saved: $2602.5 Life Gained: Days: 45 Hrs: 10 Mins: 7 Seconds: 13

I managed to stay smoke free this weekend. I got a lot of yard work done. the weather was nice and i spent it outdoors enjoying the wind and the sun. I found myself looking for my cigarettes a few times even though I haven't smoked in almost a month. I felt like Pavlov's dog. What an ingrained habit smoking is. Quiting is like saying goodbye to an old friend. An old friend that behind your back is robbing you of everything that is. Still.... It's funny how my routine has all these built in triggers for a smoke. The good part is, I didn't fold to any of them. I'm using the patch and it's working very well for me. In another few weeks I drop a level on the patch. I assume I'll have some coping to do then as well. I figure I smoked for a whole lot of years, this isn't something I'll unlearn in a few days. I know I have hard times coming, but for whatever reason, I know I'm ready for them this time. I wont fail. How did you all manage this weekend? Everyone make it okay? If you didn't, you're back with the program this morning right? RIGHT? I too stayed smoke free. I had a rough moment on Saturday but other than that it was okay. I had one person tell me I looked different. When I asked how, he said you look like you are more confident. That really made me feel good. I do feel different and I know I am me now without a crutch. He also told me he honestly didn't think I could quit which made me more determined to stay a non smoker. I am on day 66.
