Day 2 really rough!!!

Dee, DH and I were at the beach that first week of hell and we walked every night together, it really helped get us through some tense moments. It is also another coping skill to replace smoking, as is breathing, deep breaths, have fruit on hand - alot of good stuff in is season now. Your sense of taste and smell will be coming in soon - this is awesome. I am addicted to lemons now - I put 6 of them in my ice water at lunch today. Wait staff thought I was bonkers I am sure. :) Hang tough, if you have an evening crave come here to the board, I spent many hours here the first 10 days. sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/2/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 28 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 280 Amount Saved: $49.00 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 17 Mins: 46 Seconds: 8

Dee So evenings are hardest? Then plan ahead for them...and recognize the urges for what they are..just urges. Breathe, do whatever you have to to get through each one. Then pretty soon evenings won't be hard anymore. BTW, The March mellows are haing a luau..just started...you're welcome to join us -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 69 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,760 Amount Saved: $469.20 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 17 Mins: 28 Seconds: 43

Thanks y'all, I really needed that little pep talk. I'm on day 3 now and so far doing fine. No crying today in fact had a pretty good day. I don't like when evenings roll around, they seem the hardest for me to get through. Hangin in there and still smoke free. YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!! Be very gentle on yourselves for the first week, it is an extremely anxious time for so many quitters. Don't add any more pressure than what you are already feeling. There isn't much that would be harmed if it had to wait a day or two until you feel up to it. It reminded me of coming home from the hospital after surgery. Glad to be home, for sure, in some pain, :( and the he** with the dishes in the sink and the dust on the tv. Do whatever makes you feel better for a little while. It will get better, we all promise you that. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/14/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 105 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,150 Amount Saved: $509.25 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 17 Mins: 43 Seconds: 41

I feel ya Dee. I cry everyday. Crying does relieve stress through our tears. Won't this all be worth it to be smoke-free? No longer a slave to nicotine, having to answer every crave by inhaling poison into our lungs, jonsing for a fix when we can't smoke, spending lots of money to injure our bodies and our minds. Remember what it was like, Dee. You don't want to live a lifetime of slavery to nicotine. That is what will happen if we go back. (unless we try and quit AGAIN; you will have to go through this first week AGAIN). Take it easy. Think about the positive aspects of being smoke free. There is nothing positive about being a smoker. Stay close to the site. You can do it. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 96 Amount Saved: $20.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 15 Mins: 47 Seconds: 53

Hang on , Dee, you're doing great. I've been weepy too & it isn't like me either. I don't care right now, it's just part of getting it all out of me. It's my quit & I'll cry if I want to & you should too, if you feel like it. Pamper yourself, get lots of rest & come here as much as you want. Dee Hurray! You did it!!!! First off, focus on how great it is that you didn't cave, you are smoke-free for a day and a half!!!! They say the nicotine is out of your body in 72 hours...you're halfway there. Hold tight, sleep if you can, as Tutti says...drink lots of water. Chew on something. I took a spoonful of nonfat yogurt or cottage cheese, ok, and peanut butter, to reward myself. And just keep reading, and posting when you feel like it. I was glued to this site for the first few days. It gave me hope that it can be done. Also, how about a movie? Or some exercise? The teariness should decrease, but if it gets too bad, maybe you should see your doctor? Keep on going, Dee..You can do this! -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 69 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,760 Amount Saved: $469.20 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 16 Mins: 41 Seconds: 4

You're doing great Dee! Take it five minutes at a time if you need it. Also, little rewards are a good idea to give you something to look forward to. A bubble bath, a latte, cup of tea, rent a movie or whatever you enjoy. Dee, Great job of hanging in there. For me and several others here day 3 seemed worse than 1 or 2 but then things started looking up. I spent all of my first week and a good bit of my second week on this site. Read and post often, someone will always answer.
