Anybody else have heart fluttering ???

Hi sugarnose, If this were happening to me, I would have it checked by my doctor or at least take my vital signs to see if they were within the normal range. It might be nothing at all, but I've learned the hard way not to put off unusal symptoms. Hope this helps and that you're back to normal soon. I'm 3 weeks down, and one time last week and all day yesterday, my heart is like a constant fluttering. It feels like it's beating out of my chest, but yet I can't really feel it. I know that doesn't make sense, but it feels like it's vibrating. I'm wondering if this is some sort of side effect from either a)not smoking or b) not drinking as many sodas or c) what is it??? Sugarnose, It may very well be related to anxiety, however we do recommend if the symptoms persists, worsens or increases in frequency that you consult your doctor to rule out medical causes. Danielle _____________________ The SSC Support Team

Please remember I am not in the medical profession I just know a lot about these. A symptom that comes from stress is called PVC. Premature Ventricular Contraction. It can also be brought on my too much caffine. Believe it or not even chocolate!!! It's funny because sometimes they are more noticable when you are really relaxed hang'n on the couch. It can be scary but I would guess that the stress & anxiety of your new changes is bringing them on. You should tell your doctor about them so he can take a listen and just by listening they can usually tell if it is stress related.

Sugarnose, Early in my quit I felt what you are describing. It was anxiety and I also had trouble with dizziness. Try taking some really deep breaths and drinking ice water. Another thing that helps is to take a walk. A calm walk, not like a power walk. Your body really is going through a lot of changes and it is going to take some time to heal. If it doesn't pass or get better, I would consult your physician. Do a web search on stress relief and try some of those techniques. They really hepled me when I felt totally out of control. I hope this helps. I have experienced this. In a previous quit I encountered some severe chest discomfort. It wasn't pain, but yes the pounding (almost coming out of your chest) feeling, the fluttering. I attributed it to ++ anxiety at that time. I have felt it this quit too. For me, it is caffeine related. Nicotine allows the body to process caffeine at twice the normal rate. So when we quit, we should decrease our caffeine intake. That's coffee, chocolate and Cola's. When I am experiencing this irregular heart beat when I am anxious, I make a conscious effort to concentrate on my breathing and trying to calm myself. Certainly if it is accompanied by other symptoms such as pain, tingling in the arm, blurred vision or any other symptoms seek medical attention. In fact I agree that you should probably see a doctor anyhow. That person is the best to assess you properly.
