That's the way! I just love those analogies you come up with, mk! You will be Super non-smokin' Woman when you believe you are, grasshopper! Stay close, check in & know that we're pulling for ya! Hey I've been thinking of what you said here for awhile now Unhooked. (I just can't get my SSC time in lately, but things are easing up soon:) Thanks for staying close... You're right about the I KNOW instead of I HOPE thing. Sometimes I feel like "Super non-smokin' Woman" and sometimes, I feel like my dog when she looks embarrassed for wanting to get too close to the cat food dish. Know what I mean? I'm still learning to trust myself. I know I can, but worry just a tiny bit that if no-one is looking I might act like my dog! No worries now though, I've been doing just great and will watch out for the cat food feeling:) I'm learning to identify my triggers much better, so I feel like I can prepare for them. It's great to feel my confidence grow with each successful day, and to not have to fight so hard. I still have cravings/thoughts, but sometimes I don't even think about cigarettes, and that's soooo nice!! So? I will just keep close, and I'll be workin' on my I KNOWs instead of my I HOPEs - and all of my NOPEs:) xo, mk My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/14/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 14 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 210 Amount Saved: $52.50 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 12 Mins: 27 Seconds: 3

MK, I'm really glad you're feeling better and I can see your resolve has been strengthened by this latest challenge. I gotta tell you though, sister, "hope" won't get it done. Only knowing for sure that you want to be a non-smoker more than you want to smoke will make it happen. I don't think you're out of the woods, mk, so I want you to stay close for awhile yet. I want you to say "I KNOW" instead of "I HOPE" & then I will rest easy for you. Thanks Duffis. I had my little crave or three tonight but they poofed away in good time. All I have to do is take a deep breath, or try to a few times -- to remind myself of how stupid smoking is. If someone handed me a bottle of baby powder, squeezed it, and said "inhale this" - it couldn't be much worse for my lungs. I'm still healing. I hope that as I feel better each day I can stay away from the physical and mental temptations of nicotine. What a waste of life. It does seem to get easier with time, right? I admire your presence here. Period. (no more Betty Crocker-like posts - I promise:) I was just flailing for something to hold on to:) good thoughts in return to you and yours... mk My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/14/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 12 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 180 Amount Saved: $45.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 8 Mins: 2 Seconds: 46

I just posted a follow up at the "feeling rejected" thread regarding this whole situation that got me flustered... and I want to thank you here too... I was very afraid and got through it all with your help, and without smoking... Thank you! Your friendship and the awesome quality of it still amazes me... Mamakitty, We are here to help you that is what this is all about. I know it is hard to ask but I do remember when I had a crisis and started a thread the help came flowing in. At first I felt I really owed all these people something for taking the time to help me and then I realized that is what we do here nothing owed. So come on in sit right down and let us know what we can do for you. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 157 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,140 Amount Saved: $1,020.50 Life Gained: Days: 22 Hrs: 5 Mins: 46 Seconds: 57

Mamakitty, Asking for help doesn't make you weak. It makes you human. Don't be shy. You can always bring it full circle to those who need help later on. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

Take another look around MamaK, those two little ones are what matter most....I had three, they're all grown up and gone...I wish they were little again....enjoy that life around you because it's gonna vanish all too soon! (Sorry to be the voice of 'wake up and smell the armpit farts') :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 173 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,325 Amount Saved: $1,825.15 Life Gained: Days: 21 Hrs: 2 Mins: 35 Seconds: 44

MK, I know how you feel. I have said this before. When I first came here, I would not have asked anyone to spit on me if my hair was on fire. 2 things changed that for me: 1. I asked myself if I had been able to quit without help. Self said, uh no. 2. A certain big, hairy lovable member here assured me that I would have many opportunities to give back any help I asked for, if I would just believe I could. You CAN do it, mamakitty. If you need help, that's what we're all here for. We've all needed some kind of help at some point. So, stick your left hand into your right armpit & pump for all you're worth. Can't light up like that, can you?
