Nobody smokes anymore :)

The fact that no one around me smoked played a big role in my decision to quit. Now when I see a smoker, I kind of feel bad for them because they don't realize just how free of the cigarette they can be. I don't ever want to go back to being a slave to the cigarette! I love being around and among those that don't smoke! We went to a pub on Sunday and sat outside since there was a football match on television inside - and it was SUNNY! I commented to my friends that an amazingly small number of people there seemed to be smoking. Smoking is now forbidden in public places here and I had assumed that all those outside were going to be there for the smoke. I thought that this was great leap forward and that people actually were getting he message and giving up. Then it got to 'half-time' in the game and half the pub poured outside and indulged in a massive collective smoke-in before going back inside to watch the rest of the game. I guess some things take a while to change. You know how when your quiting you notice every one who does smoke. I live in a small country town and alot of people smoke there. Last week end we traveled to Frisco Texas, just outside of Dallas and never saw one person smoking. Even outside the Mall. We were talking about it and wondering if they had an ordinance. Anyway it was very nice. It made me feel good to be with non-smokers and still have a good time. I didn't think you could do that before I quit. I've always thought that cig's should be illegal. I think if they were I never would have started or be going through the turmoil of quitting. Yep those old movie days of where it "used to be" cool to smoke are gone, woohoooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! Just breathe......... The more and more cigs are out of sight and smell the more they will be out of all of our thoughts. It does make it easier to not be tempted like the quitters of yesteryear were, a definite plus! You members are setting a great example for all around you! It make take others longer to see the light. I am glad the bans are in and yes they should step it up, make it harder for anyone to smoke and make it easier to say "I quit" Josie, Support Specialist

I live near Columbus Ohio, state law says no smoking inside any public building and you must be at least 40 feet away from the entrance. I think its time for uncle sam to step up to the plate and ban them all together. I live Phoenix, Arizona. You can't smoke inside (unless you are in your own home and even then...). Also, you can't smoke within 30 feet of any door. Smoking is so out of style! Sue and I just got back from Wrightsville Beach NC. One of the places we stopped at had a special price on Tapas if you ordered at the bar. Since it was so darn hot out and to get the special price we decided we would go in and sit at the bar. We saw the big ashtrays sitting there but all of them were untouched. We actually sat there for quite some time before anyone lit a cigarette. Out of the whole establishment with a full parking lot, there was only one smoker. For those who smoke and are reading this, the time has come for you to get on board and begin a smoke free life. Do it before it's too late! As soon as you quit we can say, Nobody smokes anymore! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 96 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,400 Amount Saved: $336.00 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 20 Mins: 37 Seconds: 51
