Motivation needed.

15 years ago 0 6 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
hi Julie,

Perhaps if you were to plan your exercise as a pleasant activity it would help you to keep the motivation high.  A bike ride through a reaaly nice park, or next to a water-way?  Rather than have a number as a goal if you have a destination as a goal; I need to pick up a box of scented candles?

My cousin does the weights thing and the way they set up their repetitions helps the psyhological barriers... I can't lift this 100 times but (5 repetitions of 4 lifts ) five times)  is nothing.

Julie,

Don't be so hard on yourself, you are on the right path.  One thing many people don’t realize is that you don’t need to do high intensity exercise to get healthy and lose weight.  In fact most major authorities suggest moderate intensity exercise for weight loss! According to professional guidelines you should focus on:

Frequency - how often you bike
Intensity – how hard you bike (e.g., hills)
Time - how long you spend biking and
Type – what type of activity you do (e.g., biking, walking, swimming, etc.)

Hope this helps,

Hi,

Went out with friend today, told her that I went on my bike the other day and how much I really wanted to do more but felt like I could do the miles so needed to do the 3 miles in less than 10 minutes instead. She is right that I should try and not do too much at once but feel like I haven't acheive anything if I can't do what I was doing a few months ago. Maybe I should be content with the fact that I have done something. Am planning to go on bike at least once more before the week is up. Housework still needs doing even though I did tidy the kitchen up a little bit, does look better but don't think will ever look right.

Keep you posted

Sooooooo did not do any exercise at all just couldn't face it even though I know as you say goofy you do feel better. Maybe I should just start with the three minutes again - no scrap that maybe I should start with getting the energy to actually sit on the bike.

Looked at the weight site maybe give it ago, weighed self today and sooo not happy and this is making me feel even worse.

I'll keep you posted  - thanks again

Julie,  so glad to hear that you exercise and want to start back.  If you only do a 1/4 mile it's a start, then build from there.  sounds like to me you are accustomed to riding more than that, but you know as I do, once we start exercising we feel better, mentally and physically and you'll continue on your journey.  When I first started exercising after I became depressed and finally used my treadmill, I walked 3 minutes.  I worked my way up to 45.  Now I have done like you, stopped again, but if all I can do is three minutes I'll celebrate that for today or maybe exercise more than once today....either way, I'm on my way to feeling better and ultimately losing weight.
Happy cycling!!!!! Wear a helment!

Hi,

Need a little motivation back, one of my goals is to lose some weight recently I have come off the wagon (so to speak) in losing weight. Pretty pround of my achievements so far (lost 7.5 stone) but have felt so low, dis-interested especially over the last couple of months that I have put back on a stone ( well maybe one and a half) not helping the mood situation really liked being slim. Am feeling like I am going to get back on it slowly but surly, think I might go on my bike today and maybe do three miles, I know if I can get back into it I feel better after. I say three miles but chances are I won't do any so even if I manage one mile that would be something.

Just eaten a pear, now going to have some blueberries, maybe a banana ( although already eaten one today) and then finish off with two crumpets.Don't let this fool you today  I have eaten lots, this is more like little snacks to get through the night.

Any suggestions with fat burning issues that I can do on my own, or foods to help with lifting my mood and motivation.

Thanks.
