How to do exposure for traveling when you have no means!

Diva, Your having anxious thoughts about traveling and when we expect the worst we tend to be on the lookout for any small signs that we might be starting to panic. As it may be hard to do exposure therapy, you will have to work hard on challenging your anxious thoughts. Here's list of questions to think about. 1. Is it "true"? 2. How do I know it€™s true? 3. Is it 100% true? (remember something that is 75% or 99% true is not 100% true) 4. What's the evidence for it being true? 5. What's the evidence against it being true? 6. Has it ever happened before? 7. What's different now? 8. If it were true, how bad would it really be? 9. What's the worst thing that could happen? 10. Prolonged and untreated panic disorders can sometimes cause side effects like social anxiety, depression, and agoraphobia. Since panic attacks can occur during social situations, it can sometimes cause someone to develop performance anxiety or social anxiety. This is particularly true if the attacks frequently occur during times of great stress for the patient. Another possible reaction to these triggers can be depression and lack of confidence, as the person continues to fail in his endeavors. The onset of these side effects not only have an effect on mental health, but can also make recovery even more difficult. As such, it is critical that the problem be diagnosed and treated as early as possible. That way, the damage it can do is kept to a minimum. Brenna, Bilingual Health Educator

Due to the physical symptoms that panic disorders have, some people can easily make the mistake of believing it to be a physical problem. There are a variety of physical ailments that can cause the same range of side effects and symptoms that panic disorders do. It is believed that a number of untrained observers may mistake a panic attack as epilepsy, or something similar. In some cases, the physical effects have been mistaken as heart attacks or strokes. A lack of knowledge of can also lead some observers to mistake the side effects of panic disorders to be a case of social anxiety or performance anxiety.

Improving Time Management Skills

In the past week, we’ve been talking about stress management. A great preventative strategy for stress is to buff up on your time management skills. Here are a few tips:

·                                 Stop procrastinating: If it takes a certain mood to be productive, help yourself get into it. Turn on your Mp3 player, take a walk before you sit down to put your nose to the grindstone. Whatever it takes to get the project done now.

·                                 Plan ahead: Having a clearly written plan of attack for a project can be helpful and help you stay productive. It can also give you clear direction as to what step in the project to tackle next. Also don’t forget to allocate 1-3 hours extra of time just in case the project takes longer than expected. This will help you avoid turning it in late.

·                                 Keep a time log. This can be an eye opening tool! It allows you to see where you are spending your time, who interrupts you, ect…

Xanax Medications

Xanax, also known as Alprazolam,  belongs to the class of medicines called benzodiazepines.It is used for short term relief or excessive anxiety, the treatment of general anxiety disorder or the treatment of panic disorder. It works by slowing down the central nervous system.

Alprazolam should not be taken by anyone who has:

  • an allergy to alprazolam or any other medications belonging to the benzodiazepine class
  • an allergy to any ingredients of this medication
  • myasthenia gravis
  • acute narrow-angle glaucoma
  • severe liver disease

The most common side effects are:

  • clumsiness or unsteadiness
  • dizziness or lightheadedness
  • drowsiness
  • slurred speech
  • abdominal or stomach cramps or pain
  • blurred vision or other changes in vision
  • changes in sexual desire or ability
  • constipation
  • diarrhea
  • dry mouth
  • increased thirst
  • false sense of well-being
  • headache
  • increased watering of mouth
  • muscle spasm
  • nausea or vomiting
  • nasal congestion
  • problems with urination
  • rembling or shaking
  • unusual tiredness or weakness
Physical dependence has also been associated with benzodiazepines. As always, please speak with your doctor or pharmacist for more drug information, correct dosages and if you have ongoing or unusual side effects while taking the drug.
