Thank you so much for sharing your techniques for setting goals and achieving them! It sounds to me like you've come a long way, and have every reason to be so proud of where you are!
 
Breaking goals down into smaller parts is an excellent way to feel less overwhelmed, and to see progress in a tangible way. As you mentioned, the SMART acronym is a very useful tool for setting concrete goals.  Good for you for sticking to it! 
 
Just remember not to be so hard on yourself- it takes a tremendous amount of discipline and hard work to break away from old habits. Perhaps you could consider rewarding yourself with each milestone you reach! What type of reward might offer positive reinforcement for you?
